Are you associated with NASA/IAU?
Star Name Registry is an independent star register, so we are not associated with NASA or the International Astronomical Union (IAU). The IAU is the only institution able to assign officially recognised names to stars, which they do for scientific purposes and do not take requests from the public. The service we provide allows members of the public to symbolically name a star for themselves or a loved one. We have designed our star-naming experience to be as easy and fun as possible and all of the stars named with us are recorded in our online Star Register. You can find more information about this on our blog post: What does it mean to name a star?
