Is this an ‘official’ registry/database?
100%. We are an official and legal register with more than 2 million stars within our database that we can name.
As stars heavenly bodies, they are rightfully deemed the property of all mankind, and impossible for anyone one person or body to own.
With the International Astronomical Union (IAU) being the only organisation able to assign a celestial body with a scientifically recognised name, the service we provide is the closest one can get to naming a star for themselves or a loved one.
